it has been called alot of different names like goo cake merguire cake etc. it has a soft crust that is not cake form more like a pastry and is filled with different fruits like strawberry or cherry or blueberry or peach then is covered with a merguire toppingDoes anyone know the recipe for homemade smear cake?

Can't find a recipe at home but I used to something similar at work where I used a pre baked sweetcrust pastry base,put rasps or cherry pie filling in or whatever takes your fancy then covered the top with meringue and baked for about 10mins (325f) or until meringue was golden. It needs to be eaten same day of making though.
